Comment

Erect Form. Pruning Group 14.

"A dramatic, tall perennial, this is particularly useful plant because it comes into its own late in the season, when many flowers have finished, and because it thrives in damp shade. The slender, bottlebrush-like flowers emerge in autumn from their buds a pale pink, but deepen in colour as they age. When mature, they turn a rich, dark pink. The flowers are heavily scented and are a magnet for butterflies. The foliage emerges in spring with strong purple tones and gradually turns greener as it matures through the summer. Try it at the back of a border, between evergreens. Avoid removing the faded flowerheads since they provide an interesting silhouette in the winter garden.

Support using ring stakes well before the flowers appear. Cut spent flowers down to the ground in spring. Lift and divide congested colonies in late autumn or early spring." from RHS Online Plant Shop.

"Originally named Cimicifuga until recently. The foliage is half of the attraction on this cultivar being a relatively deep purple-brown. The whole plant - stems included - are a rich purple-brown which is strongest in high light conditions. The leaves are held on rigid stems which require no staking to a height of around 150 cms high. Flowers are borne on the stem tips and are in the form of a spike which may carry dozens of smallish but very strongly scented blush pink flowers. Numerous spikes are borne from the original stem giving the plant an extended flowering period. Please be aware that the foliage reaches only around 60 cms high, the flower stems pushing through the foliage to 150 cms. Foliage is essentially the same as Actaea simplex 'Brunette'." from Edrom Nurseries.

I wonder if there is a mail-order nursery in China that grows and sells this plant in China with its information on its website in both Chinese and English? Then, I could copy the information from China into the Comments Row of that Plant Description page in this website with links to both its English and Chinese page from its Chinese Nursery website about that plant. The information in Chinese and it's English translation could be sent via email to The Embassy of China in Britain; and thence to me using this email address. Then, people from China visiting this country could inform their relatives where they also could get that plant.

I am attempting the same free link to mail-order nursery service for the people of Europe, Latvia, America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
